Being thankful for water filtration
One of the biggest goals that we have as the local chapter of Engineers Without Borders, along with the national chapter, is to bring clean and accessible water to communities all over the world. With that being said, we're pretty partial to water filtration. It's crucial to the communities we serve and we just wanted to take a moment to say we're thankful for the filtration process.
It's very easy to take things like clean water for granted. Did you know that only about 1% of the Earth's water is drinkable? Did you know that only about 2.5% of the water on Earth is considered to be fresh water? Facts like these make water filtration and access to clean water so crucial.
Our chapter has done projects in both Mexico and Navajo Mountain, UT where we tried to improve either the accessibility to water or the filtration and containment of water. For these communities, water is everything. It's how they make their livelihood and complete other day to day tasks. Imagine if you did not have ready access to clean water. Life would be that much tougher. So this holiday season when you're looking for something to be thankful for, remember how important water is to you and your community.
